PennFuture responds to passage of Senate Bill 790

The following is a statement from PennFuture President and CEO Jacquelyn Bonomo regarding the passage of Senate Bill 790.

“Instead of taking action to further protect the health of Pennsylvanians during this unprecedented pandemic, the House of Representatives approved a bill today that undermines core environmental protections at the worst possible time,” said Jacquelyn Bonomo, President and CEO of PennFuture. “Senate Bill 790 is nothing more than a gift to the conventional oil and gas industry that weakens protections on drinking water, allows for significant oil and gas spills to go unreported, and rolls back rules governing the industry to 1980s standards. We are calling on Gov. Wolf to veto this dangerous legislation and to prioritize the health of millions of Pennsylvanians instead of catering to the interests of corporate polluters.”
