Action Alerts

Pennsylvania's elected officials work on our behalf, and they must be held accountable. PennFuture regularly distributes action alerts asking our members to contact their elected officials about legislation moving in Harrisburg. Below is a list of the latest alerts we have distributed to our members concerning recent legislation.

Tell The PA DEP to Deny the Homer City Fracked Gas Plant Air Permit

Take action now to tell the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to deny the air permit for the massive Homer City fracked gas plant which, if built, could power a massive data center by burning fracked gas. Data centers are massive energy sucks, and when powered by fracked gas- like this one- the emissions would threaten the health of surrounding communities and the stability of the climate.

Remember that personal stories and impacts make a difference! Please include your story in the comment below to DEP. Comments are due Monday, September 29, 2025.

Take Action: Pennsylania's Opportunity to Lead On Water Cleanup Efforts

Pennsylvania is a member of the Chesapeake Bay Program as part of our cleanup efforts. This program is a partnership with other jurisdictions around the Chesapeake Bay. This December, the Chesapeake Executive Council, the top tier in the Bay Partnership, will meet to make important decisions, including who will lead the Council in 2026.

Send a letter to the PA Department of Environmental Protection urging Governor Shapiro to seek the Chair of the Chesapeake Executive Council at the upcoming annual meeting. This will help ensure that Pennsylvania continues to make progress in cleaning up our waters.
