Cambria Coke Challenge to the air quality permit granted by DEP for a proposed coke plant. / Soon after the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) set a hearing date for this appeal, Cambria Coke announced it had decided not to build the plant, at least for now. The company apparently made this decision based on the downturn in the world market for coke. In August 2004, PennFuture formally filed a petition with the Pennsylvania Environmental Quality Board (EQB) on behalf of public health, sporting, women's rights and environmental and conservation organizations asking the EQB to enact a regulation requiring coal-fired power plants to reduce their mercury emissions by 90 percent. / (More Details)

PECO/PSE&G Merger Seek renewable energy benefits from merger which would result in the nation's largest utility. / In January of 2006, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved a settlement between the merging companies, PennFuture, and other parties that provided $19.2 million for renewable energy programs.
